WHO SHOULD EVALUATE OR BIOPSY YOUR SKIN?

Healthcare providers in our network contribute information and material to further the efforts of the NEBRASKA MELANOMA CENTER ®. These professionals include primary healthcare providers, dermatopathologists, pathologists, surgeons, medical oncologists, and radiation therapists throughout Nebraska and adjacent states. Patients may obtain referrals to physicians in our network by contacting us. Occasionally, patients are referred to well known healthcare facilities such as the Mayo Clinic, M.D. Anderson Hospital, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center or similar institutions depending upon patient preference.

If your skin lesion(s) needs more evaluation and possible treatment and if you do not currently have a Nebraska primary care physician, through its network of healthcare professionals in Nebraska and, in conjunction with the NEBRASKA MELANOMA CENTER ® (a public-private partnership promoting skin wellness and skin cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment in Nebraska), Pathology Services, P.C. will refer you to local physicians and medical groups who are accepting new patients.

If you undergo a skin biopsy, the skin specimen may be sent to NEBRASKA MELANOMA CENTER ® and its affiliate, Pathology Services, P.C. for processing, evaluation, diagnosis, and inclusion in its database. Having your skin biopsy specimen(s) sent to Pathology Services, PC. is not required to avail yourself of the resources of NEBRASKA MELANOMA CENTER ®.

If your healthcare provider sends your skin biopsy specimen elsewhere, NEBRASKA MELANOMA CENTER ® would appreciate a copy of your pathology report to include its diagnosis in its Nebraska cancer registry. Ongoing national research furthers our efforts to continually improve skin disease diagnosis and treatment for Nebraskans.

NEBRASKA MELANOMA CENTER ® is a public-private effort in healthcare services related to educating Nebraskans about proper skin care as well as the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions, including skin cancers.
